Attic Blog: Ever Dreamed?
Ever dreamed?
I mean really dreamed? Dreamed of something so great, so impossible, so over the top, that unless God stooped down and graced it, it would never come to be. Unless God orchestrated the seemingly random notes in your heart into a masterpiece, your dream would fall onto mocking ears, dismissed as foolishness only to be crumbled up and tossed away with the rest of mankind’s hopes. Unless God smiled at its thought, it would fail. Have you ever dreamed?
If so, then you have also wept. The tears of dreamers are many. Tears of disappointment and tears of anxious hope. Tears of failure and the tears that gratefully come when the smile of God is seen and the blessing granted. Tears of rejection and the tears of fulfillment. Ironically, the tears of finally partaking of the dream taste sweeter when they follow the bitterness of longing. These tears hint at the power enclosed in a dream.
There are deep seeds of power enclosed in a dream. Think of the Great Wall of China…the Computer…Man Stepping on the Moon…God Walking on the Earth. When dreams are fulfilled, great things happen. Why is this? The ability to dream is a blessing from God. It stems from His nature as a creator that He gave us when He formed us in His image. A tiny portion of the power that spoke the heavens into existence was granted to dwell in humanities dreams. All things that have been created, whether by God or man, started out as a dream, a thought, an idea, a passion.
May we continue to dream the dreams God has implanted in our hearts. And if called upon, be willing to give up those dreams for the sake of love and, first and foremost, following Jesus.
[Note: periodically I will pull a blog out of the "attic" and revisit it in new light]

Thanks for this. I dream and then cry the tears of the dreamer.
I thought of this song. One of my favorites from one of my favorite bands.
Jeromy,
Thank you for this. It is purely beautiful. So encouraging.
I especially loved what you said here:
“The ability to dream is a blessing from God. It stems from His nature as a creator that He gave us when He formed us in His image. A tiny portion of the power that spoke the heavens into existence was granted to dwell in humanities dreams.”
Amen.
Blessings,

Wow…thanks, Dr. J…
Dreams and tears seem to just fit so well together.
Daniel - I like it…very catchy.
Amy - You are always such a blessing.
Dave - They do indeed. Question: I wonder if God tears up when God’s dreams go unfulfilled / unrealized?
